Sigma designed and prepared project plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for flood channel improvements located at the North Las Vegas Airport. These improvements addressed two major hazards associated with flood control. The first hazard involved frequent flooding of the V-ditch storm drain channel adjacent to Taxiway B into the aircraft parking area. The second hazard involved multiple incidents of aircraft and vehicles rolling out of the designated travel lanes and into the open channels.
Sigma's tasks included coordination as well as civil and hydraulic design for approximately 3,000 LF of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) culverts and reinforced concrete box (RCB) culverts adjacent to the existing Taxiway B. In addition, the project included the design and layout of more than 2,200 linear feet of 10-foot x 6-foot RCB’s to replace an existing open channel located directly adjacent to Runway 12L.
Sigma also prepared a technical drainage study for the City of North Las Vegas, The City of Las Vegas, and Clark County Flood Control District.
